Today I completed all of the up drilling at the root end of the spar and all of the holes along the top spar cap. I just have the holes through the web along the lower edge of the spar to complete.

Today I continued up drilling to both #21 and 3/16". It seems to be taking me a long time. I’m sure if I just drilled by hand it would go quicker but I like the idea of using the drill press to get nice square holes. The holes are actually round it’s just that they are at 90 degrees to the surface I am drilling through.

Tonight I’m working on up drilling the wing spars to #21.

I started by marking all of the holes that need to be counter sunk in the 1/8 web. Next I setup the microstop in the drill press and proceeded to drill the counter sinks. I started drilling fairly slowly but I discovered that it was better to drill quick.

I worked on counter sinking the upper right hand spar cap. I completed all the counter sinks but I have a few that I need to go back and enlarge slightly.

Continued work on the right hand spar up drilling to #30.

Today I started up drill the wing spars to #30.

I continued drilling the pilot holes in the right wing spar today. I completed all of the pilot holes in the right hand wing spar. The next step will be to mark all of the holes for countersinking and then to experiment with the countersink. I’ll complete all of the bolted connections first and then move on to the rivets.
